An Early Eighteenth Century Continental Engraved Brass Sun Dial, Dated 1713. The octagonal plate is engraved with the face of the sun. The chapter ring is engraved with Roman Numerals and the inscription " Docet Umbria " 1713. The sun dial has a deeply oxidized surface and is in very good condition. The gnomen is attached to the plate with two screws. The threading on each of the screws is very worn and no longer tightly secures it to the plate however it still is able to rest in place and function as normal. Dimensions: Height 4 1/2", Width 10".
