A Very Rare Late 19th Century Pietra Dura And Shell Letter Opener circa 1880. The black slate handle is inlaid with a vibrant floral spray. The lower portion is fitted with a sterling silver ferrel above a shell blade. The back of the handle is engraved with a monogram ( MFG ) and is enclosed within a sterling bezel. The piece is in very good condition with some slight bend to the shell from age, but not breaks, chips etc. Dimensions: Length 9 1/2", Width 1 3/8".
