Reminiscent of Renaissance architecture, this European bronze thermometer, featuring both Centigrade and Fahrenheit scales, is surrounded by three columns supported by caryatids and masks, and topped with a cupola. It is in extraordinarily fine condition, with both thermometric scales working. It measures 12 1/2" in height, and 6 1/4" in diameter at the base. It is French, and dates from the last quarter of the Nineteenth Century.
