This Chinese painted wooden basket measures 15 1/2" in length, 8 1/2" wide, and 15" high to the top of the handle. The tongue-in-groove constructed basket is painted black outside with primitive red flowering plants. The inside is painted a bright red. This late, Nineteenth Century carved agate group with birds and flowers, is mounted on a bronzed later base (c. 1920) and is typical of the lighting favored during the first years of the last century. The actual carving measures 7" high, and 4 1.4" wide. The stand is 4 1/4" high, and from the base to the top of the fixtures is 17" high.
