This late, Nineteenth Century carved agate group with birds and flowers, is mounted on a bronzed later base (c. 1920) and is typical of the lighting favored during the first years of the last century. The actual carving measures 7" high, and 4 1.4" wide. The stand is 4 1/4" high, and from the base to the top of the fixtures is 17" high. This is a Chinese Peking enamel-on-bronze creamer and sugar. Each is adorned with flowers on a powder blue background, both on the inside and outside. The creamer has a bronze "dragon" handle, while the sugar has two. There are losses to each piece: the creamer has a chip on the outside next to the handle, and cracks and some crazing; the sugar has only minor crazing and a small chip inside. Decorated in marvelous, bright pastels, and festooned with foo dogs and dragons, this Chinese vase makes a handsome presence where ever it perches. It measures 17" high, and 6" at the base, while it measures 8 1/2" at its widest point. The two reserves both on the neck and the body of the vase depict Mandarin women in rich dress.
