A fine Continental inlaid walnut candlestand, probably German, circa 1800-1820. The pictorial top with convex sides is inlaid with a crest incorporating a sheep under a crown with trailing acanthus leaves. There is a very fine cross banded border in mahogany framing the image. A fine Italian carved gilt wood Baroque Style mirror, circa 1900. The vertical mirror plate is surmounted with a carved urn capped with an acanthus bouquet. An acanthus vine flares from the sides of the urn to the mirror below and continues to each side. There are similar leafy appliques on the lower frame. The carving is robust with fine patina on the gilt surfaces. Condition: Very good. Dimensions: Height 56", Width 27".
