A fine and very unusual Continental carved ivory figural parasol handle, c.1850. The tip of the handle, carved with a face wearing a headdress of grapes and grape leaves. The base of the handle which would join with the parasol is decorated with carved acanthus leafage. The piece has a fine old patina. Condition is very good with some minor natural stressing in the ivory, there are no breaks or losses. It measures 4 1/4" in height. ...click for details
