Not to be trifled with, this impressive Black Forest carved bear measures "15 3/4" in length, "4 1/2" in width, and "8 1/2" in height. He has some scuffing on the high points - nose and ears specifically - but is essentially in excellent condition. He has black, glass eyes which give him an uncannily wise look. He comes from the Schwartzwald/Black Forest area on the Swiss/German border, and dates from c. 1900.
