A French Late Nineteenth Century gilt bronze and enamel decorated box, circa 1880. The gilt bronze molded edges and short feet all cast with repeating bands of acanthus leaves. The fittings surround panels painted with cherubs within floral sprays on a vibrant blue ground. Condition: Very good. The rear panel has some loss in the decorative field. Dimensions: H D W.

This small bronze, measuring 6 1/4" high and 3" deep is is signed "H Muller", and depicts the mythological Diana and her dog. The bronze stands on a red marble base. These sort of bronzes were sold to travelers taking the Grand Tour of Europe in the Nineteenth Century, and are usually desk-size copies of large bronze originals in great museums.
