A fine Early Nineteenth Century American painted blanket chest, probably Pennsylvania or New York State, circa 1820. The chest constructed of poplar has a wonderful and original painted surface with repeating swirls in a mustard colored paint. Condition is very good. The porcelain incorporates a textured surface to enhance the image. The subject is probably after a Nineteenth Century painting on canvas. These unmarked American coin silver salt and pepper shakers, most likely New York or Philadelphia, measure 6 1/4" high, 1 5/8" in diameter at the base, and approximately 2 1/8" in diameter at their broadest point. They are in very good condition, with evidence of being well used. There is some slight crimping on the base of one, and some bruising on the repousse, otherwise fine. American manufacture, c. 1850.

The outer surface is decorated with an upper and lower band of concentric rings. Hallmarks are stamped near the rim and on the underside of the lid. Condition: Excellent. A fine early English silver tankard made by the London silversmith Humphrey Payne in 1713. The cylinder form tankard with a domed lid and scrolled handle. A coat of arms is engraved on the front surface. The lid, body and handle are stamped with hallmarks. The tankard was purchased from the Gebelein Shop in the early 1960's. Condition: Very good. Dimensions: Height 7", Width 7 1/4". Weight 22.7 Troy ounces.
